The growing interest in Westerlo’s Griffin Yow has led to new suitors from both England and Germany.
A pair of unnamed English Football League Championship clubs and one German club has opened talks with Westerlo over a potential deal for Yow, a source close to the player confirmed to SBI. Yow has previously attracted interest from Belgian side Anderlecht per sources.
In addition, a handful of MLS clubs have expressed interest in Yow, according to reports. The 21-year-old attacker is eligible to occupy a U22 roster spot, should he decide to move back to MLS.
Yow, a former DC United academy product, is coming off a breakout season with Westerlo, scoring seven goals and adding seven assists in 28 appearances. The 21-year-old has yet to feature for Westerlo this summer after being part of the U.S. Men’s Olympic Team.
Yow featured in all four matches for Team USA, assisting once off the bench. He finished the tournament as one of the positive performers in Marko Mitrovic’s squad.
Westerlo is 2-0-0 in its opening two matches of the Belgian Pro League season, defeating Cercle Brugge and Mechelen in back-to-back matches. Yow’s potential first match back could be on Saturday against Union St. Gilloise.
