In an unusual twist of events, a famous European football couple has joined each other at Italian giants Juventus. Here’s a look!
The story
Perhaps, unlike in other sports, football couples between professional men’s and women’s footballers are not a regular occurrence as many would potentially like to see.
Brazilian men’s star Douglas Luiz and Switzerland women’s star Alisha Lehmann are one of the most recognisable couples in the European game, with the pair having received a lot of attention for the fact that they both represented English top-flight side Aston Villa over the last couple of seasons.

Strangely, however, Lehman was unveiled as a Juventus women’s player this recently, with the transfer coming less than a week after Luiz penned a five-year deal with the Juve as well.
“Alisha Lehmann is a new Juventus Women player. The Switzerland international has joined the Bianconere from Aston Villa, signing a contract until 30 June, 2027,” read a statement on Juventus.com.
The couple has amassed a staggering following over their romantic union, as there are numerous fan accounts of them across various social media platforms.
Prior to the move, however, Lehmann was in the United States to support her partner at the 2024 Copa America. Brazil shockingly crashed out of the quarter-finals of the competition at the hands of Uruguay through a penalty shootout, with Luiz being one of two Selecao stars to miss their penalty.
