The European Parliament asks for adequate support for the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine in the process of joining the European Union, MEP Siegfried Muresan, vice-president of the EPP Group in the European Parliament, said in a press statement. By a resolution, the European institutions and member states were urged to allocate financial and technical support to the two countries, IPN reports.
“We have just adopted, with a large majority in the plenary session of the European Parliament, a resolution, cosigned by me, on the need for the European Union’s continued support for Ukraine. In the text of the resolution, we reiterate our clear objective to allocate political, economic, humanitarian and military support for as long as necessary, until Ukraine’s victory over Russia. We also welcome the opening of accession negotiations with the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. We believe that the European integration of the two countries represents an investment in a more united and stronger Europe. That’s why, at my proposal, we asked the European institutions and member states, through the resolution, to allocate adequate financial and technical support to the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine in the process of joining the European Union,” said Siegfried Muresan.
The MEP noted that the resolution was adopted in the first plenary session of the new European legislature in order to show that Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova remain a priority of the European Parliament.
